2022 - A little does nothing.
My tennis journey technically started in 2022, although started is somewhat of an optimistic perspective. I had received a racket from my brother and began sporadically practicing serves. As someone that is not very outgoing, and also hesitant to compete until I have some level of confidence in my ability, I focused more on what I could do without expanding my boundaries Eventually my wife decided she wanted to hit some so we would head out and rally a bit. Nothing serious but just fun.
As I began to get a bit better at serving I wanted to try and find more people to hit with. That’s when I found tennis is an odd sport to get started in. You almost require another person to play with yet if you are not already in teh scene getting into the scene is tough. I explored all the “player finding” apps with very little success until one day someone reached out to me on it. I didn’t know it at the time but he would become my tennis BFF. My luck in tennis was decided on that day.
The year ended with very little actual tennis played. In many ways I don’t include this year in my tennis journey from an improvement standpoint but it was critical in what was to come.
